OUR PROGRAMS
SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM
AND FEE ASSISTANCE
In conjunction with the Middletown Township Recreation Program, the Middletown Community Foundation provided wonderful camp opportunities to those who, due to financial or other considerations, would be unable to otherwise participate. The Foundation receives nominations from guidance counselors in public and parochial schools within the Township for students who will most benefit from structured camp activities. In the 6 years the Foundation has been providing this program, over 250 children have benefited.
The Foundation matched the summer camp opportunities and deserving Middletown students. Students attended the Township's specialty and summer-long camps.
Middletown residents who wish to contribute to a program to help defray some of the costs of camp registration are able to do so when they register their own children for the summer recreation program. On the registration form, there is a space available to designate a donation to the Summer Recreation Fund. 100% of the donations to this fund are used to help other Middletown residents enjoy a summer camp experience.
For more information about the Summer Recreation Program, please email the Foundation at

EMPLOYER MATCH FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE
Middletown residents working for companies that sponsor an employer match for community service are invited to take advantage of this opportunity with the help of the Foundation. If your employer provides monetary donations to specific public service organizations, learn how you can participate by contacting the foundation at:
[email protected]
Presently, the Middletown Township Recreation Program, the Middletown Township Arts Committee, and the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company all benefit from Middletown volunteers. Each volunteer must donate a set amount hours set by the employer per year to their specific organization in order to qualify. The three corporations presently providing funding include the Exxon Mobil Foundation, the Dow Jones Foundation, and the Pepsi Foundation.
One hundred percent of matching funds are donated to the designated foundation.
Fresh Start Closet
Officer Melissa Robison, an MCF board member and member of the Middletown Township Police Department, and Intern Nick spent some time building our first set of Fresh Start Closets at the Albert Schweitzer/Carl Sandburg campus recently. We still have some filling up to do, but wanted to share our progress. We quickly realized that we will need more space than this and will likely double the set up where we can.
We even had our first customer. This guy was wearing his father’s clothes to school – which is apparently a near daily occurrence. We got him a brand new t-shirt and zip up hoodie and some socks to go on his bare feet. It was awesome to see how excited he was to have some new clothes to wear home.
Please help spread around the sign up genius and the Amazon wish list we’ve created. The principals were really excited to see what we were able to give them, even in these preliminary stages. If you want to be a collection spot at your business – lets figure out how to make it work!
