About The 2010 Scholarship Program and Requirements
The Middletown Community Foundation will award scholarships to high school seniors residing in Middletown Township
to be used for higher education. The scholarships must be used to pay for tuition and fees to enroll in or attend
an educational institution (college, university or other accredited institution of higher education), or to purchase
books, supplies and equipment that are required of all students for their course work.
The students receiving the highest-ranking scores based on the criteria listed below will be awarded the
"Dectective Christopher Jones Volunteer Service Scholarship" and the "Becky Marseglia Volunteer Service Scholarship"
to honor their commitment to community service.
Students must be enrolled in an accredited high school and be accepted into an accredited degree program for the upcoming summer or fall semester.
To qualify, students must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Be a resident of Middletown Township.
2. Be enrolled in an accredited high school.
3. Be accepted as a full time student in a college or university for the fall or summer semester of 2010.
4. Be able to document community or public service involvement.
5. Write an essay of 250 to 500 words detailing your public service to date, why you chose this type of public service, and how this public service has changed your life.
6. Submit the attached application by May 1, 2010.
The Middletown Community Foundation will evaluate each application without regard to race, religion or creed. Relatives of board members of the Middletown Community Foundation are not eligible.
For an application to be considered, it must be completed and submitted (postmarked) by May 1, 2010 to the Middletown Community Foundation Scholarship Program, P.O. Box 1128, Langhorne, PA 19047. All essays must be double-spaced and typed using 12 point Times Roman, Courier or Arial font.
The successful applicants will receive notification of the scholarship in May 2010. Scholarships will be awarded at a public meeting of the Middletown Township Board of Supervisors in May or June.
